ABOUT DAY CAMP

Designed for campers ages 5-11, our program gives kids the opportunity to grow, learn, and explore in a secure, supportive, and faith-based environment. When your child comes to day camp, they join a community that values them, prays for them, and encourages them to be themself! Day Camp is more than just a place to have fun and make memories; it helps kids form friendships, build self-confidence, explore the outdoors, and tap into their creativity.

Our exceptional staff are at the heart of what

we do.

Counselors are carefully selected to ensure we hire the best role models for your child. All Koinonia staff go through a thorough interview and screening process. Staff are then trained in everything from swim lessons to chapel facilitation to prepare them to give campers the best week of their summer. We hire staff who model Camp Koinonia values both at camp and in their lives all year long.

FEES

Camp Koinonia offers tiered pricing as a way for families to invest in our camp and facilities. By offering two voluntary price options, you can choose to pay the option that best fits your family’s financial situation. As you consider your family’s financial situation, please also consider the true cost of camp. The choice is voluntary, confidential, and will not impact your child’s camp experience in any way.

Tier 1 $395/ session | Represents the full cost of operating camp, including not only the basic costs of camp but also long-term maintenance, wear and tear to the camp facilities, and other operational costs.

Tier 2 $295/ session | The cost which covers the basic costs of camp such as staffing and supplies.

Financial aid “camperships” are available for families whose financial situation is not reflected in the tiered pricing system. Select “Request for Campership Application” during the registration process to fill out the form or email program@campkoinonia.org for more information.

When is payment due?

Until May 31st, a $50/session deposit for each camper will be required to complete registration. The remaining balance is due June 1st. Families can opt into a payment plan or choose to make manual payments (any remaining balance on June 1st will be automatically charged.)

INVESTED IN GROWTH

We believe camp should be more than just fun. Through caring staff and intentional programming, campers learn new skills, build lasting friendships, and grow in character. We strive to instill campers with values of respect, friendship, joy, and faith.

Our goal is that each camper will:

  • Experience a sense of belonging

  • Develop knowledge of and appreciation for the natural world

  • Acquire and improve their social and emotional learning skills.

  • Develop spiritually based on Camp Koinonia’s 5 spiritual goals

Day Camp Trail Groups

Day Campers take on their Koinonia experience in trail groups. Composed of co-ed groups of 7-10 campers and 1-2 counselors, trail groups give campers a home team for the week. Based on weekly registrations, campers are typically in a trail group with peers within 1 year of age.

Days will be filled with developmentally appropriate games and activities which promote skill development, healthy risk taking, character growth, and fun! Most activities throughout the week take place with a camper’s trail group.

Schedules vary by age level and may include:

  • Nature Hikes

  • Bounce House

  • Fishing

  • Mud Kitchen

  • Finger painting

  • Teambuilding

  • Archery and Slingshots

  • Ice Cream in a Bag

  • Bubbles and Chalk

  • Dodgeball

  • Pond time

  • Sports (Soccer, pickleball, etc.)

  • Parachute Games

  • Gaga and 9 Square in the Air

Sibling & Friend Requests: We are able to accommodate 1 mutual “buddy request” for campers to be in the same trail group with friends or siblings within 1 year of age.

FAITH AT DAY CAMP

In the book of Matthew, Jesus responds to the Pharisees’ question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Matt. 22:36-39

Faith development at Camp Koinonia Day Camp is grounded in this teaching. Our goal with faith development is to expose people to God’s love and plant seeds, allowing room for exploration and questions with your family.

With that in mind, these goals guide our time at camp.

Camp Koinonia’s Five Spiritual Goals | Each camper should learn more about:

  • Relationship and connection with a gracious and loving God.

  • The Bible as a guide for life

  • Jesus’ life and teachings regarding loving God and others well.

  • Our bodies being the temple of God that need to be well cared for.

  • Our responsibility in caring for the world God has made.

Chapel and Circle Time Devotions

Day Camp Counselors host a relatable and interactive daily chapel. Centered around skits that introduce concepts like sharing your gifts and talents, trusting in God, and loving others, chapel is a core part of the camp experience. To complement the lessons introduced at chapel, daily Circle Time devotions gives campers age-appropriate opportunities to explore the Bible, talk about their lives, and learn about faith.

CHECK IN AND CHECK OUT

During registration, families will select one check in option and one check out option. Families are not able to choose multiple options and must use the same check in and check out time/method the entire week of camp.

Early pick ups outside the selected check out time disrupt the camp day. If an early check out cannot be avoided, please contact the Program Director to coordinate a time that works with the trail group’s schedule.

CHECK IN OPTIONS

LEARN TO SWIM AT DAY CAMP

Camp Koinonia is the perfect place to learn how to swim! Each camper will participate in daily 30 minute swim lessons. A swim check on Monday will determine your camper’s lesson plan for the week. Swim lessons are led by counselors and lifeguards and focus on building confidence, improving swim ability, and having fun!

  • For campers who show nervousness swimming on their own, the smiley lessons are designed to increase comfort in the water. Simple games are used to introduce skills such as blowing bubbles, kicking at the wall, and floating.

  • For campers who have confidence in the water but don’t demonstrate knowledge of swim skills, orange hearts focuses on teaching basic techniques to prioritize safety in the water. With the help of equipment such as floats and kick boards, campers will work on floating, kicking, and submerging.

  • For campers who have developed some knowledge and technique of front crawl skills but are still working on endurance, the yellow stars work on just that! This level focuses lots of practice on front crawl, while adding in additional water safety skills.

  • For campers who demonstrate some knowledge and technique in the front crawl stroke, the green levels expand on their skills to continue developing proper technique. Campers learn and practice additional swim strokes and skills such as treading water.

  • For campers who are proficient in the front crawl stroke and treading water, the blue levels focus on perfecting technique, increasing endurance, and advanced skills such as rotary breathing and surface dives.

Questions and comments can be directed to our program director, who will be handling registrations as well as managing all aspects of our summer day camp.
