WHO WE ARE
The Homeschool Collective is a weekly program hosted by Camp Koinonia, meeting on Mondays from September through May. Designed for homeschooling families—including those using online programs—this community-focused group offers structured social enrichment through parent-led activities.
At the heart of the Collective is a vibrant network of parents committed to intentional connection, friendship, and mutual support in their homeschooling journeys. In line with Camp Koinonia’s mission, the program also encourages families in the Cle Elum area to spend meaningful time together in nature.
Much like a co-op, every participating parent plays an active role in making the Collective a thriving, shared experience.
GENERAL INFO
Our Homeschool Collective welcomes children of all ages. Our preschool program— “Littles” is available for ages 0-4 and our regular program for ages 4 and up by September 8, 2025. Our weekly Monday meetups are a family-style, cooperative program, not a drop-off service. Parents or caregivers are required to stay on-site and actively participate with the group. All enrichment is designed to supplement home-based learning, not replace it.
Each month includes three structured Mondays with the following schedule:
1 hour of small-group classes (electives) “Littles” accompany their adult to all electives.
1 hour of open free play, with optional guided activities (flex time) “Littles” gather for their own age-appropriate class.
Offerings may vary monthly based on the interests and availability of participating parents who volunteer to lead.
The fourth Monday of each month is reserved for parent meetings, group-wide events, parties, or special activities.
Please note that children enrolled in the regular portion of our Collective should be comfortable being away from their parent or caregiver for at least one hour in order to participate in elective classes. All four-year-olds, including those who turn four during the year, will have the option to graduate to the regular program if they are comfortable and ready.
Younger siblings who are simply accompanying their family and older sibling(s) are not required to enroll in the preschool program unless they wish to participate.
While attending, we ask that all families respect the facilities, mission, and values of Camp Koinonia, as we are guests on their beautiful property.
A DAY AT COLLECTIVE
We begin gathering around 12:00 PM each Monday. This is a flexible time that can be used to:
Participate in the optional kids' Bible study
Prepare for your electives
Eat lunch and connect with others
Play outside—children are welcome to enjoy outdoor time under their parents' supervision
Around 12:50–12:55 PM, we’ll ring the dinner bell to call everyone to the lodge for announcements. Please listen for the bell so we can start on time! After announcements, we break into our small groups and dismiss to electives promptly at 1:00 PM.
Electives run from 1:00–2:00 PM
("Littles” attend with their parent, who will be helping with or leading a class.)Flex Time is from 2:00–3:00 PM
(“Littles” gather for their own age-appropriate class.)
At 3:00 PM, our assigned cleaning parents begin tidying up the lodge while everyone else wraps up their day.

PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES
At the heart of the Collective is family participation. Each family commits to contributing their time and energy to help our program thrive.
Each parent is expected to plan and lead three elective classes during the 2025–2026 year. These small-group classes (which we call “electives”) run on three Mondays of each month. Don’t worry if this feels overwhelming—you won’t do it alone! Each elective leader will be assigned at least one parent helper, and we offer a running list of class ideas, a library of resources, and a very supportive community. You’ve got this!
Parents of preschoolers are required to participate within the preschool program.
Parents are also responsible for cleaning up any spaces used during their electives, returning rooms and supplies to their original state.
In addition, families help clean the lodge on a rotating schedule, which is assigned alphabetically. This shared responsibility helps us maintain a welcoming environment for everyone.
To remain an active member of the Collective, families are expected to maintain at least a 75% attendance rate at Monday gatherings and meetings. This consistency is essential to the health and sustainability of our program. If a family becomes inactive, their spot may be offered to a family on the waitlist.

Registration OPENS on June 2, 2025.
