Chuck brings a wealth of knowledge to the job including his organizational management skills and attention to detail. He is a team leader and looks to improve every organization he works with. Lexie “Lava”

pROGRAM Director

Lava started her time at Koinonia in 2024 and oversees Day Camp and program areas. She gets to do “all the fun stuff” at camp! Though a Midwesterner at heart, she now calls Washington home.

If you can’t find Lava playing at the pool or pond, you should check the hiking trails or the campfire. Outside of work, you’ll probably still find Lava enjoying Washington’s great outdoors - swimming, hiking, camping, or just reading in her hammock. Lava is on a mission to visit every National Park and has made it to 30 so far!

Megan “Cinderella”

Hospitality & financial administration manager

Cinderella has spent a lot of time at Camp Koinonia serving in many roles. She has added a wonderful craft cabin to our yurt, cleaned up our facilities, and created a welcoming guest experience. Cinderella enjoys being near any water source be it oceans, lakes, rivers, or the camp pool and pond. She's an avid craft hobbyist and her spare time is always involving DIY crafts and projects, including dabbling in self-taught reupholstery. She is in and out of camp throughout the year ensuring cleanliness of the camp, although most campers won't see her as she is usually onsite in between camping retreats. Cinderella also has experience in Bookkeeping and is Camp Koinonia’s Financial Administration Manager. Cinderella cleans up the books and the cabins! She does not however, have any cute little field mice that help her. (They tend to do just the opposite!)

Craig “Steele”

new food service director

Steele’s career has gone from working with gangs and building gang programs in schools to private security to building and running gang and violent offender programs in prisons and it sparked a love of teaching that blossomed into a career of managing and developing people through a training/teaching lens that continues to this day.

He graduated culinary school in 1992 and loves to cook, serve, and teach people and has a passion for working with at risk and marginalized populations. Cooking is something that brings everyone together and eating is something that has a profound impact on a group. After years in corporate management and auditing, he is excited for this new opportunity to serve others while bringing creativity and spark to Koinonia’s food service.

When Steele is not at work, you will probably find him at a petting zoo somewhere with his wife of 27 years, Kelsey.
