About Employment at Camp Koinonia
Located in Central Washington, Camp Koinonia is surrounded by the Cascade Mountains with 111 acres to explore. Founded by the Church of the Brethren in 1965, Camp Koinonia is a Christian camp that offers programs that teach faith formation and spiritual enrichment. We also serve secular camps and camps with different faith backgrounds. With a rich history of campers, retreaters, camp staff, volunteers, and donors, Camp Koinonia provides guests with a unique experience in the woods. Surrounded by tall pines and towering mountains, Koinonia offers a rustic hideaway with several perks. Some of our site attractions include a heated swimming pool, pond for kayaks, archery tag, fishing, full-service dining hall, fire pits, horse stables, a yurt, and miles of hiking trails.
You will be joining a team of year-round staff alongside around 40 seasonal staff. We provide training and hands-on experiences for our staff to grow in leadership and teamwork.

Summer Leadership Team Positions
These positions will help us supervise summer staff and offer exceptional programs and camp offerings. Must be 18+ and have references. We will ONLY hire the absolute right people in these roles and will leave them vacant if we do not find the right candidate.
Compensation: $18-20 Per Hour Based on Experience + End-of-Year Bonus
Aquatics Coordinator | Supervise lifeguards, work lifeguard shifts, coordinate aquatic schedules, and oversee all aquatic activities; maintain high safety standards. Lifeguard certification required and previous experience a plus.
Day Camp Coordinator | Supervise day camp counselors, coach staff in working with campers, coordinate and oversee day camp programming. Previous camp counseling experience required.
Program Coordinator | Supervise a team of program specialists, coordinate and oversee program areas such as target sports, arts & crafts, escape room, nature, and mountain biking. Maintain supplies and equipment. Coordinate camp-wide activity schedules.
Food Service Coordinator | Supervise a team of support staff, and coordinate operations for various areas of camp. Responsibilities given based on camp’s needs and your strengths, and could include: preparing menus, group hosting, coordinating meals, creating schedules, and more.
Group Host | Serve as the main point of contact for User Groups. Assist with group scheduling, staffing, and overall experience.
Summer Staff Positions
Our summer staff team is the heart and soul of camp. Working at camp is the hardest job you’ll ever love, and comes with mentorship, community, and FUN! These positions are each cross-trained in multiple areas of camp.
Compensation: $13.85-16.28 Ages 14-15 | $16.28-17.50 Ages 16+
Day Camp Counselor | Lead and mentor a Trail Group, a co-ed group of 8-12 campers ages 5-11, for the week. Responsible for all aspects of the camp experience for campers: supervision, safety, leading games and activities, and behavior management. 1 year experience working with youth is encouraged.
Lifeguard | Teach and lead all aquatic activities including kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, swimming, and more on a freshwater pond and heated pool. Currently have or ability to obtain Lifeguard certification is required; previous experience in one or more of the aquatic activities a plus.
Program Instructor | Teach and lead our specialized camp activities including target sports, mountain biking, arts & crafts, escape room, and more. Experience in at least one program area is a plus, but not required. Training is provided for all program areas. This role is cross trained in camp support areas.
Kitchen Crew | Support the overall operation of camp in a variety of areas, primarily in food service and dishes, but also including facilities, housekeeping, and maintenance. Rotate through each of these areas on a weekly basis. This role can be cross trained in camp program areas.

Legally permitted to work in the USA
Ability to work on a team and follow instructions from a supervisor.
Physically able to lift 25-50lbs on a regular basis & work long hours.
Available for summer season (June 16 - September 1). 10 weeks commitment requested; 8 weeks required minimum. Guaranteed 1 day off per week, with 2 days off per week most of the summer.
Attend and Complete Online Training and Participate in our In-Person overnight training (June 16-18 All Staff; June 19-20 Role-Dependent)
THE EXPERIENCE
The Camp | Koinonia is located in Central Washington in the heart of the Cascade Mountains. We sit on 111 acres and have space to host 140+ guests. Our facilities include a heated swimming pool, large lodge, staff lounge, meeting spaces, and hiking trails. You’ll live and eat on-site during the summer with opportunities to travel home certain weeks or weekends.
The Work | Summer is the busiest time of year for almost every camp in the nation. You will be working long hours with breaks and days off. Every day you will meet with your supervisor and look over your schedule. You will be tasked based upon your position, skills, and abilities.
The Staff | Our summer leadership team and year-round staff will be supervising our summer staff. We are easy going, fun having, and encouraging individuals. Our goal is to create an experience that benefits both the camp and the summer staff. We want your work to be rewarding and beneficial to your future career.
The Fun | Not only will you be living in a beautiful camp, you will experience everything our town and state have to offer. Our staff will have scheduled outings including camping trips, rodeos, city day, ball games, hiking and more.
The Faith | We are a Christian camp and we are always growing closer to Jesus. Everyday there will be scheduled devotions & prayer as well as a weekly community dinner and Bible study. You will have the option to worship on Saturday night or Sunday morning.
